I don't associate myself with any fandoms whatsoever, no matter how much I adore the show/game/movie/book/group/etc etc they're all fandumb. //snorts at own lame joke
srs talk tho. groups polarize, breed extremism and obsession, cause needless aggression, spark hate against anyone who's not a part, and are just painfully obnoxious to deal with. I'll refrain from mentioning in depth how every show gets turned into a political agenda somehow. plus seeing 3,000+ ponies/stevens universe/adventure time/undertale fanarts each day in my inbox makes me really not want to be anywhere near those groups just because it's so overwhelming, regardless of how good the shows/games are.
yeah there's always that obnoxious side take undertale I like the guys who change the tempo of the songs to reveal its actually other song or the guys who find easter eggs
but there's also the other side with like vaping headcanons or like 5 different sexual orientations for every character I usually just unfollow people as soon as they post stuff like that i mean it doesn't matter what it is there will always be that one person who takes things too far
I really used to like Rick and Morty but the fandom is so obnoxious and creepy I'm starting to dislike the show ;; I unfollowed lots of R&M blogs and that helped. Blacklisted some of the most regularly used terms that cringeworthy posters use, but it's a hard life :'D
I feel your pain now it's just sans with a flaming eye (cuz originality is too hard) or being sad mettaton in his final form because the original form doesn't exist anymore for some reason and bait for sexual orientation and gender discussions asgore and so sorry being the spawn from hell for some reason alphys just being a walking anime joke papyrus just a defenseless baby when he could be even stronger than sans
and it goes on and on the only 2 characters i don't see being ruined are just napsta and muffet
It really depends on how well the the person can portray the content on such fandom media, but kinda see why the question. People would usually say "I like the game, but not its fandom", maybe because of them having a bad experience on encounter things they wouldn't expect to find from this (you know, rules of the Internet and similar stuff.. >//<) But I suppose it gets annoying when they really want to put definite statements, not being able for others to place their own interpretation of it. That person must be open about those things and not care about what he doesn't like from it, and also other people into the fandom must be considerate about newcomers, not trying to pull much information if that doesn't corrupts the experience on the media to be received
yep it's either one or another some do an inaccurate portrayal of the thing they are fans of, others over hype what they like, and I think the worse is probably the gateway way of thinking like for example with star wars there's already people complaining about people "suddenly liking star wars" and treat like shit new fans instead of being happy the thing they love is getting some attention
Mhmm, I'm not into fanon stuff either. Once it gets too meta/AN AU OF AN AU OF AN AU I'm... lost, I don't like it. Plus I'm just not into fanon in general so even like pretty innocent headcanons just make me ":/" and I just let people have their fun and stay out of it.
